CT Man Charged With Killing Motorist In Hit-Run Crash

Almost a year after a hit-and-run driver killed a Connecticut motorist, the man allegedly responsible for the crime has been charged.

Dajon Marques Morris, age 20, of New Haven, was arrested on Tuesday, April 2, for the Wednesday, June 7, 2023, crime that killed a 42-year-old New Haven man.

On the day of the crash, Officer Christian Bruckhartd of the New Haven Police said officers responded to the intersection of Haven Street and Clay Street on the report of a car striking a motorcycle.

 The car involved in the crash was described as a green-colored Honda Accord that fled the scene immediately after the collision, leaving the motorcyclist lying in the roadway, Bruckhartd said.

The victim was transported to the emergency department of Yale-New Haven Hospital by ambulance, where he died from his injuries. 

Police said that after a lengthy investigation, Officer E. Agosto identified the operator of the offending vehicle as Morris.

Morris was charged with: 

  • Evading responsibility resulting in death
  • Misuse of a marker plate
  • Operating a vehicle without a driver’s license
  • Operating an unregistered vehicle
  • Insufficient insurance
  • Failure to obey a stop sign (three counts)
  • Failure to obey a traffic signal
  • Window tints.

He was held on a $75,000 bond.
